Seeds Dispersed Everywhere

I feel this urge
A very strong impulse
To disperse seeds
Here and there, everywhere

Seeds of flowers and fruits
Of trees big and small

To make green
All land that is barren
Creating a forest everywhere
Or a solitary tree in the middle of nowhere

The monsoon arrives
The seeds sprout
Some perish, some flourish

Outside my window
Now grows a mango tree
Where years ago
One sunday, after sucking the juicy flesh
I had thrown a mango seed

Work kept me away;
Now, after all these years
Am home.
In the twilight of my life;
People I loved
No longer here.

I pluck a mango from the tree
Relishing its sweet flesh
Along with the memories it brings
Reaping the fruits of the seeds
I sowed long ago..
